House Sprucing

Memorial Day Weekend 2012

We had a blast on Memorial Day weekend! A good portion of the weekend was spent relaxing and being a little lazy but we managed to have some fun outings too!

On Saturday this guy found his way to our back porch. There is a large pond behind our fence and I think that is where he came from. He is definitely not that cute and I am not sure if he is a soft shell turtle or a snapping turtle. Whatever kind of turtle I was not taking any chances and we just left him alone until he found his way out of the backyard.

When Colton was right at 9 months old, I took him to have some profession pictures done with Dina Ivory. She did an amazing job. I was so excited to see the finished pictures!

These two pictures were just perfect for our hallway.

This one is just precious and looks great in our living room.

Here is Colton in one of Dina Ivory's most famous poses, a bowl baby! He is so darn cute and this one also looks great in the living room!

After hanging those gorgeous pictures I decided to look around the house and see what else I could do to freshen things up a bit. I had a large bag of fabric scraps left over from my rag wreath project so I grabbed the fabric, my hot glue gun, two wood frames and just hot glued the fabric to the frames.

This is the first one I did as a practice run.

The second one turned out much better.

The next project on my list was hanging this shelf in Colton's room and finding the right items to display on it. I think it came out really cute.

This poem was displayed in Josh's room when he was a little baby. GaGa (Josh's Mama) gave it to Josh and I to put in Colton's room. I found this matted frame at Target and it was just perfect to hold this precious poem.

Hubby was also very productive this weekend! Our builder made the horrible mistake of painting our bathroom with FLAT paint! A word of advice if you have little children stay away from flat paint. We went to Lowe's and found this pretty color called Forevermore. It is made by the Olympic paint line. We were even given the option to have the primer mixed in with the paint. This made things a lot easier! Initially I was dead set on another Benjamin Moore paint color but when I saw this pretty blue color I knew it was just perfect.

I also found this pretty shower curtain while we were at Lowe's. I think it looks just beautiful with the paint color and really makes the tile and cherry cabinet pop. Good Job Hubby!

On Sunday we went to Grammy's pool to do a little swimming. It was Colton's first time getting in a big pool. He had a blast!

Memorial Day 2012 was so much fun!
