Honeymoonin

Here are some pictures of the different things we did and saw in St. Augustine on our honeymoon. ENJOY!This is a picture of the bed and breakfast we stayed in. It is called the Peace and Plenty Inn. It was built in the 1800's. The Inn keeper was so nice to us. Every morning she made us homemade breakfast. We enjoyed french toast, Belgium waffles and puff pastry with eggs and sausage. They also provided free wine, beer, tea, soft drinks and desert. There was even a journal in our room so we could write about our experience in St. Augustine. It was really cool how we could read about past guests experiences. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. If you look really closely you can see me standing on the front porch.
This is a picture of the bathroom. It is not the best view but I really liked the art work on the wall. It had a jetted tub and a really cute antiques and fixtures throughout the bathroom. The room consisted of a king size four poster bed, fireplace and lots of adorable antiques. I did not post a picture of the rest of the room because I wanted that to be something special only Josh and I shared.

While in St. Augustine we had to take a tour of Flagler college since I am an alumni. This is one of the signs by the college.

This is picture of the fountain in front of the entry way of the college. This college was originally created by Henry Flagler as a hotel. He had this fountain built to work as a sun dial. He wanted it to look like a sword. The little animals sitting on the edge of the pool are frogs. They were not only suppose to be a working part of the sun dial to enable people to know what time it was but they also represented the months of the year as well. The water in that fountain did not smell very good due to all the sulfur but I thought the architecture was just amazing.

This is a view of the front doors of Flagler college.

Here is some more amazing architecture.

Right when you walk in the college you notice the amazing ceilings. We were told anything that looked like it was gold was in fact 14k gold. If you look closely you will see women painted on the ceiling. Each woman represented a season or something from nature. For example wind or fire.

As you walked in you also noticed this stairwell.

This is a picture of the floor underneath that amazing gold ceiling. If you look close enough you will see one of the black triangles is missing a corner. After Henry Flagler had this grand hotel built he was asked what he thought was the one imperfection. If you can believe he said the floor. That one small piece of tile. That is why he was happy to have that gold ceiling. He said it took the patrons eyes off the imperfection of the floor.

One funny piece of history we learned is that when the hotel first opened only the wealthy and very prestigious were invited to stay at this hotel. As soon as the guests would arrive the women would have to go to the woman's sitting room. Why you ask? Well the reason is because the hotel stay would have to be paid for on arrival. It was a belief that if a woman witnessed a financial transaction that she would go blind. This is a picture of the fireplace. The chandelier is worth over a million dollars.

Here is some of the amazing art work.

Henry Flagler is in the art work on the wall.

Here is a picture of one of his wives.

The next stop on our tour was the great dining hall. It was so beautiful.

Henry Flagler and the most prestigious and wealthy guests would sit by the stained glass windows. Mr. Tiffany, this is the man who created the Tiffany's empire, did all the stained glass or Tiffany's glass.

Here is another chandler.

Here are some alternate views of the dining hall.

Here is a view of Flagler college at sunset.

Here is a view of Flagler at night. That grey circle is not a full moon. We believe it maybe an orb. This is an extremely haunted city.

Here are a couple pictures from the Lightner Museum. This is a statue of Pedro Menedez. He was only 4ft 11inches tall.

This is a side view of the museum.

We took many tours of museums. This collection of pictures was several houses that were restored and decorated according to the time period. I am so mad for not taking pictures of the signs that indicated the year of the home. The years ranged from the 1700's through the 1900's

We took the trolley to see this amazing Catholic Basilica. This is a view of the bay behind the church.

Another gorgeous bay view.

This was the biggest cross I have ever seen.

While in St. Augustine we had to visit Ripley's Believe It Or Not. Here is Josh posing beside the worlds fattest man.

This is the jaw bones of a prehistoric shark. SCARY!

A T-Rex scull

We also toured the oldest house in St. Augustine. There was so much history in this house. This was one of the best tours we went on in St. Augustine. This is a picture of a cannon ball that was shot on the side of the house.

This was another house right beside the oldest house.

Side view of the Oldest House.

Back view of the oldest house.

Josh is so romantic and took me on my first horse drawn carriage ride.

I am about to get in.

Here is some of the amazing things we saw on the ride.

I could not believe how narrow the streets were.

While riding the trolley we decided to take our second wine tasting at the San Sebastian Winery. If you have never tried this wine I highly reccomend it. The produce everything from Port, sparkling wine, and my personal favorite the Vinters White. This wine is made with muscadine grapes. The best part about the tour is that it was free and included a free wine tasting. You can sample everything they produce. They have an amazing gift shop and there wine is extremely affordable.

If you ever travel to St. Augustine one of the first things the locals tell you is you must take a haunted ghost tour. We traveled to different haunted locations. They reccomend you take pictures because you can usually capture a picture of an orb! Here is a side view of the cells. It was like right out of a horror movie.

The stairs leading up to more cells. The figure with a hat on to the left is a replica of the Sheriff. This is where he would usually stand to make it known he was the boss.
Inside view of a cell. This was a bed where the prisoners would sleep with no mattress, sheets or pillows. OUCH!

Another view of the bed

I am not exactly sure if this was the glare of my flash or something else.

What awful conditions!

There was no light poles outside. We are not sure what the light in the picture is exactly.

We captured more unknown lights.

The little grey and white circles are orbs.

More orbs

This is a picture of where they would hang the prisoners.

After our wonderful stay in the bed and breakfast we decided to spend two more nights at the beach in St. Augustine. Let me tell you the pictures do not do this beach justice. The Atlantic Ocean is awesome! The wasves were huge! We wanted to buy surf boards and become beach bums.

Even though I did not get a picture if you ever travel to St. Augustine beach you must try a restaurant called Sunset Grill. They have won many awards for there amazing food and they are not very expensive. We ate there three times while at the beach!

Here are some more MISC pictures of other museums we traveled to.

To sum everything up I would say the honeymoon was so magical! We did a wide variety of things and I am so glad we did it in St. Augustine! Oh and have I mentioned I love my husband!
